We met Geoff Berner backstage at the venue, laying on the couch, reading his book and being tired. After we supplied the Canadian accordionist with a double espresso, some bread with an accompanying chat about the politics of new and old forms of nationalisms here and there, he’s heading on stage with Daniel Kahn & The Painted Bird for soundcheck. And then, with a whiskey by his side, Geoff sat down to play us some songs and sucking us into his very special time-space-continuum before we went into the fresh dark breeze of that night again. Geoff headed back to Toronto some hours later. But he is coming back every now and then. Don’t miss to see him play if you feel like some relieving honest craziness full of Klezmer sounds.
