As I sit down to remember the shoot we had with the Ghost Bees back then in early march, the sun is slowly coming out over these misty fields here somewhere in the middle of felt nowhere in Slovenia. A beautiful, calm and empty nowhere. A landscape that'd fit the tunes of the Ghost Bees. I remember Sari and Romy's friends, beautiful oldstyle dresses, slow movements, almost hesitant, Sari's cut claws, kids peeking through the window, these voices. But most of all I remember that silence filled with beauty, goosepumps and the relief of the first breath again coming with the final notes. Probably because it felt like the slightest noise could scratch on their feathery sounds and poetry. |

We left Oz with smiling faces. Thanks to Leon and Paul of Cinethek Oz for having us! Some hours later we met again at the venue, Romy and Sari had just come off stage and opened their first beers. Five of them, three of us and the impressive artwork made a lot of people and little space in a small backstage room. The purpose of filmmaking according to Jarman lies in the creation of community. From what I experienced that day with the Ghost Bees, their intentions and creations of music seem to be nothing else than that - to live, laugh and create with others, their friends. |

The sisters have so far brought out one album, Tasseomancy. The songs Ashkelon, Night and Diana are not part of this release. They write: it begins in the kitchen of The Grandmother in 1904, along with a collection of tales of past empires and great great ancestry; fabled figures and sorrowful lament, with vocals appendaged together like a two headed balladeer.Their second album is on its way to the world. Tasseomancy, by the way, means that fortune-telling method that interprets patterns in tea leaves, coffee grounds, or wine sediments. |

And then, before the end of that day, I remember our friend Martti joining us. She had just supported Botanica on stage with her accordion. She grabbed her instrument once more and started to play for us. This time a different kind of folk music. We put away our equipment, the instruments, artwork and the beers. I remember a room full of dancing and laughing people. |
