Ever since going to concerts I have always loved those little unexpected surprises - one of those happened in february when labourwork brought us to Szene Wien. We did a coverage of singer Emiliana Torrini who was touring Europe and along with her came Lay Low, the musical project of Lovísa Elísabet Sigrúnardóttir.
After having played in numerous Icelandic bands Lovísa started her own band Lay Low in 2006 and released
her debut album 'Please Don't Hate Me' in the same year. It became one of the most successful albums
in Iceland (the most sold original album in Iceland in 2006). Now she is about to release her new album ‘Farewell Good Night's Sleep’ which was recorded in London and will be released in Europe on March 9 and in North America in May on Nettwerk.
It is this special combination of blues, folk and country elements together with her soft and dominant, beautiful voice that immediately draws one to Lay Lows music. That is what happened that night. And that is why we couldn’t leave without asking Lovísa to sing a song for us. Hope you enjoy. |
