Another shoot at the Danube. This time closer to town and with sunshine and the calm of a weekday afternoon, at the change of seasons when the swimmers and the solarhungry are replaced by rowers, sailboats, more ducks and swans. Established in the 19th century, the Old Danube serves us Viennese as what is called a recreation area with the view of the UNO City in the back. In winter, when the water freezes, ice skaters take over. It does not get as cold as Rae told me about Canadian winters though. Rae and I meet at Fluc, the host of Rampenfiber Festival where he had played a gig the night before. A bit more pop, a bit more electro than the last time I heard him play, but still with these lyrics that trigger off images of places further away. We head to the Prater, Vienna's hundred years old amusement park. But since the renovation it has lost most of its charms and became just another boring amusement park that could easily exist anywhere else. So, despite digging and searching for a nicer spot, we give in to our swizz, to all the noises and leave. We take a ride, cross the river and climb over some fences.

RAE SPOON ______

Rae has so far brought out four solo albums over the last seven years, superioryouareinferior being the latest one. Be The Light is a new, unreleased song. And i can only hope that the rawness (read bad quality) of the recorded sound does not interfere too much with the softness of the song for you all. |
