Smooth vocals and a razor sharp tongue were her tokens surely already before the mid 1990s when she was looking for a job as a waitress in a jazzclub to get away from the one she had at the telephone company. But instead of earning her money serving drinks, Ursula Rucker got the offer to go on stage. From then onwards she spent every wednesday night reading her poetry accompanied by the sounds of a jazzband.

Quite some years, several albums and tons of collaborations later, we meet her. She is this lively, honest and funny person giving us her present of filling some minutes in the dark with dense lyrics and ductile rhythm. Her intense presence reflects the valve function of words and music... that night in between partying, meeting old and new friends and strangers before heading back home to Philadelphia.
